The AACC internship provides undergraduate students an opportunity to undertake creative and challenging assignments. This experience is offered as a 2-unit Global Studies 199 class where all interns will attend a weekly seminar to develop professional skills and learn about Asian American and Asian international cultures, experiences, and identities. 

AACC Interns

Internship recruitment is open to all University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign undergraduate students and majors. Domestic and international student applicants welcome. First and second-year students are also highly encouraged to apply.

This unique experience will be offered as a 2-unit Global Studies 199 class where interns will attend a weekly seminar to develop professional skills and learn about Asian American and Asian international identities. All student interns must register for the 2-unit class.

The AACC internship provides undergraduate students an opportunity to undertake creative and challenging assignments. This experience is offered as a 2-unit Global Studies 199 class where all interns will attend a weekly seminar to develop professional skills and learn about Asian American and Asian international cultures, experiences, and identities. The internship is open to all UIUC undergraduate students, all majors, both domestic and international students. First and second-year undergraduate students are especially encouraged to apply.

Expectations:

  • Enroll in Global Studies 199 (2-unit course) both semesters, meeting Tuesdays 2:00 PM – 3:20 PM. Actively participate in readings, discussions, presentations, cross-cultural explorations, and programming. Assist with front desk reception, opening and closing of the building, and other assigned projects.
  • Maintain a schedule of ~5 hours of work per week at the AACC.
  • Join a team of interns focused on one of the following areas of community building:
  • Leadership Team: RSO affiliations and leadership meetings, leadership development programs, leadership awards
  • Marketing Team: social media, e-newsletter, flyers, resource fair tabling, tours/visits, and other outreach to the campus community
  • Health & Wellness Team: Community Tables programming, collaborate with campus units/RSOs on programming focused on physical, emotional, and spiritual health wellbeing
